About SPSC

Soft Pants Song Camp is a songwriting and creativity retreat for women-identified artists. It is open to songwriters of all levels, from brand new and burgeoning to fully seasoned.

Where and when will we be gathering?

Tenants Harbor, Maine

June 1st-6th, 2027

In our inaugural year we will be gathering in coastal Maine just outside the tiny, scenic village of Tenants Harbor, about two hours north of Portland. We will be staying in private homes just steps away from the rocky coastline, and gathering for song swaps and connected, candlelit dinners every night. We will be offering (optional) daily yoga, teaching songwriting master classes each morning, giving one-on-one instruction, and still leave you plenty of solo space to think, breathe, and explore your creativity and songwriting process every afternoon, both solo and in collaboration with other attendees. There are beautifully winding walking paths through the nearby woods, and plenty of wide, flat, sun-warmed rocks for cat-naps and writing songs with the waves keeping time. This place is downright dreamy and we can’t wait to share it with you.

Why women-identified artists only?

We have done a whole lot of digging around and it just doesn’t seem to exist. Megan Burtt has been hosting a songwriting retreat in Texas for women-identified professional songwriters for the last 10 years, and we have found there is something sacred and important when women gather.  The safety and comfort of being able to be open and vulnerable in the presence and connectedness of other women allows for a different kind of creativity. Megan’s yearly artist retreat was the inspiration for this one. We welcome all 21+ women-identified artists.  If you have questions around this, please reach out and we can discuss.

What will my days at SPSC look like?

You’ll be staying in one of two beautiful, spacious private homes during your stay.  On Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday Megan Harris will offer optional yoga classes in the mornings and evenings (just in the morning on Sunday before our departure). This is a great way to start and end your creative day which can often mean sitting for long periods of time. After breakfast each morning, Edie Carey and Megan Burtt will be teaching songwriting classes and leading creative solo and collaborative writing exercises. In the afternoons after lunch, you will be on your own to choose a quiet spot and work on whatever moves you. In the evenings we will gather for candlelit dinners after which we will share songs (optional) in our main gathering space. You will also have the opportunity to work one on one with Edie and Megan during the weekend if that is of interest.

All food and meals are included by our in-house chef, Megan Harris.  We will all share a welcome dinner on Tuesday, June 1st. From Wednesday-Saturday, you’ll enjoy a casual breakfast and lunch and then we will all gather for dinner each evening at 7pm. On Sunday morning, after optional yoga, we will have a final breakfast together. Everyone will pack up and depart on Sunday by 11am.

Each night will end with a variety of songs and ceremonies. On Saturday night, everyone will be welcome (but not obligated) to share something they’ve written during our retreat. This will be a very safe and supportive environment. Nothing needs to be polished or perfect. Even your new, baby bird song can be wearing its own SOFT PANTS!

Megan and Edie will be giving a public performance in the town of Tenants Harbor on Sunday, June 6th.  If you can extend your stay in Maine, please join us!

How will I get there?

You’ll fly into either Portland, Maine (2 hrs south) or Boston, Massachusetts (3.5 hours south) by Tuesday. June 1st, and travel north by car/train/bus to Tenants Harbor. (The bus goes to Rockland, about 20 min west of Tenants Harbor, and we can arrange your pickup). We will do our best to help coordinate your collective travel north so you can share rentals or take trains/buses up together from Boston’s Logan Airport or Portland International Jetport. Please arrive ideally by 4pm and no later than 6pm. Once you’re settled in your room, we will take a walk around the property together before gathering for a welcome dinner prepared by our resident culinary queen/yoga instructor/delightful human Megan Andreozzi Harris.
